Jiangsu is vigorously promoting the integrated development of modern agricultural machinery and engineering equipment.

　　Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Guiding Opinions on Further Promoting the Development of Industrial Clusters.” This follows the release earlier this year of the “Made in China 2025” strategy, aiming to stimulate industrial clusters among small and medium-sized enterprises, drive industrial transformation and upgrading, optimize the allocation of production factors, and reduce the costs of entrepreneurship and innovation. In alignment with “Made in China 2025” and in implementation of these guiding opinions, Jiangsu—China’s leading province in equipment manufacturing—has promptly responded by launching a major initiative to promote the integrated development of construction machinery and modern agricultural equipment.

　　Industrial Agglomeration and Development in Major Equipment-Manufacturing Provinces

　　On July 29–30, the “Third Jiangsu Province Industrial Coordination and Matching Conference for Small and Medium‑Sized Enterprises in the Construction Machinery and Modern Agricultural Equipment Sectors” (hereinafter referred to as the “Industry Coordination Conference”), hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology and organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Machinery Industry Association, was grandly held in Zhenjiang City. The conference brought together more than ten universities and research institutes, over forty manufacturers of construction machinery and agricultural equipment, and attracted more than 300 small and medium‑sized enterprises specializing in agricultural machinery and construction machinery components from seven major provinces and municipalities, including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Fujian, and Henan, all of whom actively participated, voluntarily integrated, and independently engaged in matchmaking. This event is expected to have a positive and far‑reaching impact on advancing the transformation and upgrading of China’s construction machinery and modern agricultural equipment sectors, as well as on fostering industrial agglomeration, innovation and entrepreneurship, and structural transformation in Jiangsu—a province renowned for its robust equipment manufacturing sector.

　　In his opening‑session report, Lu Yuangang, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology, noted that in 2013 and 2014, the Commission convened two successive matchmaking conferences on collaborative supply‑chain integration for small and medium‑sized enterprises in the construction machinery and modern agricultural equipment sectors, held respectively in Changzhou and Zhenjiang. These events helped optimize the supply networks of the component‑manufacturing industry across Jiangsu and throughout China, facilitated industrial restructuring, and promoted the coordinated development of the construction‑machinery and agricultural‑machinery value chains. In particular, they provided significant impetus to product R&D, market expansion, and entrepreneurial innovation among a broad range of SMEs.

　　In alignment with the “Made in China 2025” initiative, this year’s industry‑matching conference has surpassed previous events in scale, format, industrialization level, and degree of modernization. Experts and scholars from Southeast University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and Dongfeng Agricultural Machinery Group engaged in academic exchanges on the development of domestic and international agricultural machinery industries, the application of common core technologies in construction and agricultural machinery, and strategies for seizing opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative to open up new market segments for agricultural equipment. Meanwhile, more than ten universities and research institutions—including Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Nanjing Institute of Agricultural Mechanization under the Ministry of Agriculture, Huaihai Institute of Technology, and Jiangsu University—presented over 100 new products, cutting‑edge technologies, and patented innovations for small and medium‑sized enterprises to adopt.
