Global agricultural equipment giants gather at the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition.
The annual China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition (referred to as “China Agri‑Machinery Expo”) concluded on October 31 in Wuhan, Hubei. Despite persistent heavy rainfall throughout the event, visitor enthusiasm remained undiminished. Preliminary figures indicate that the exhibition attracted approximately 120,000 visitors, spanned over 200,000 square meters, and featured more than 1,600 exhibiting companies.
Agricultural machinery and equipment sector
As an industry within the equipment manufacturing sector that is closely linked to agriculture, China has established a robust and sustained policy framework for the agricultural machinery industry and implemented stable fiscal and tax support measures. These initiatives have enabled a rapid enhancement of the sector’s overall competitiveness, with annual growth rates exceeding 20% in gross industrial output value, sales revenue, total profits, and import‑export trade volume. Today, the industry’s economic scale ranks among the highest in the world.
Current Status and Development of China’s Agricultural Equipment Industry
Agricultural mechanization in China is still in its infancy. Agricultural equipment companies tend to prioritize production over distribution and sales over service—this prevailing market reality has significantly undermined the image of their products among farmers and eroded their market share. The next decade will be a fierce battle for control of distribution channels: whoever secures access to end‑user outlets will hold the power of discourse. In the era of large‑scale agriculture, robust channel partners are essential; the formulation and refinement of a comprehensive brand strategy—spanning everything from sales to after‑sales service—will ultimately determine a product’s market share.
China’s agricultural machinery and equipment manufacturing industry is transitioning from a major player to a global leader.

The Agricultural Equipment Intelligentization Engineering Technology Research Center has been established in Tai’an.
In recent years, in response to the growing demands of large-scale and facility-based agriculture, there is an urgent need to intensify research on intelligent and automated agricultural machinery technologies and equipment, driven by information technology. The Agricultural Equipment Intelligence Engineering Technology Research Center represents another multidisciplinary integration platform established by the university, following the founding of the Agricultural Big Data Center.
Jiangsu is vigorously promoting the integrated development of modern agricultural machinery and engineering equipment.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Guiding Opinions on Further Promoting the Development of Industrial Clusters.” This follows the release earlier this year of the “Made in China 2025” strategy, aiming to stimulate industrial clusters among small and medium-sized enterprises, drive industrial transformation and upgrading, optimize the allocation of production factors, and reduce the costs of entrepreneurship and innovation. In alignment with “Made in China 2025” and in implementation of these guiding opinions on industrial clusters, Jiangsu—China’s leading province in equipment manufacturing—has promptly responded by launching a major initiative to promote the integrated development of construction machinery and modern agricultural equipment.
